A look at 3 Upcoming games for the PS5!
Hey everyone, welcome back to the lab!
Today’s post is about the PlayStation 5 Showcase from last night (16th September). and some of its game announcements. The Playstation 5 was announced earlier this year, with a price being confirmed yesterday of £349 & £449 (For a digital only console and Disc Console Respectively). The console is being released on November 12th for the US and November 19th for the rest of the world. They also announced more games to release with the console as well as further showcasing games that have been announced prior.
Since I was small, I have always been a PlayStation Gamer, however when it comes to the new consoles I always look at both XBOX and PS carefully to see if i’ll change my mind. Each time I have stuck with PS due to being invested in their announcements the most. This year was no exception. Don't get me wrong, both consoles have interesting features and games for players, however for me, Playstation have announced many games exclusive to their consoles that i want to play.
The most recent showcase highlighted three games in particular that have peaked my interest in the playstation 5, let's talk about them a little bit now:

God Of War: Ragnarok - PS5 Exclusive (2021):
God Of War has been a gaming series for years, so in 2018, when the PS4 released a new and exclusive title, many fans went crazy, and rightly so. The game was massive and epic in scale and yet the story emotional and intimate, relying on the story between Kratos and his Son Atreus.
As you explore this huge realm as Kratos you can either play the main story or go and explore what is around you, it’s safe to say the game was a hit. So at the end of the showcase, announcing the Second game is a big move, whilst details are small at the moment, we know that it is about Ragnarok and will include Thor (As in the first games ending scene). It will certainly be a very highly anticipated game and hopefully more story details will follow soon. I for one will be very excited to play when it is released!
Spider-Man: Miles Morales - PlayStation Exclusive (2020)
Once again, 2018 paved the way for another PlayStation Exclusive in Marvel's Spider-Man by Insomniac Games. The Story told of Peter Parker, well into his years as Spider-Man and having put Wilson Fisk in prison, he undergoes a mission to uncover a new foe named Mister Negative and his deadly plans for the city. During the game we are introduced too well known hero Miles Morales, and throughout we discover more about him and we are there when he develops his powers.
Jump forward to the reveal of the PS5 and the reveal that Miles Morales is getting his own game for both PS4 & PS5. This is a big win for fans. Fans have waited years to play as Miles and experience his version of Spider-Man. Miles has been a well known character since 2011 having been a prominent character in the comics and having a fantastic film ‘Into the Spider-verse’ and yet, every Spider-Man game that has come out so far, has been from Peter Parker’s point of view and not Miles. It's about time we get to play as him and It’s safe to say fans are excited, and rightly so.
The Story see’s Miles protecting New York and his city of Harlem, Miles has to stop a gang war between the Roxxon energy co and a high tech criminal gang led by The Tinkerer. The story takes place 1 year after the events of the first game, so players will be able to see how each character has progressed in the year away. This is a game people have been waiting a very long time to play, it can’t come soon enough!
Hogwarts Legacy (2021)
The game I am most anticipated for is Hogwarts Legacy by Portkey games. Harry Potter has been a part of my life since i was 4 years old, Now it’s fair to say there is a lot of controversy surrounding JK Rowling at the moment, however pulling myself away from that, the Wizarding world is something that has brought me comfort and joy for many years. Even if its creator's views is something i do not agree with, i still love this world that has been created. Every kid's dream was to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and this game looks to be the closest we will get!
An RPG Wizarding World game has been rumoured now for many years, with various leaks and rumours going around the web, yet when the game was formally announced with its trailer, it still took many by surprise. Set in the 1800’s players will become a student of Hogwarts, There they will learn various spells and undertake the life of a Hogwarts student, deciding the path they want to take, whether that be a path for good or evil. Being an RPG, there is also the larger wizarding world players will get to explore such as Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. This is every Potter fan's dream game, and I for one shall be ready on release day to play.
Those are just three out of many reveals that I am excited about when it comes to the PS5, Each for various reasons. That's not to say the new XBOX doesn't have exciting games coming up (For example the new Halo) but for me, it's PlayStation that has grabbed my interest the most in its games such as Spider-Man; God Of War; Horizon; Deathloop; Hogwarts Legacy and many more.
